A thought occurred came to me in the shower today....

Everyone is selling something. Our skills are utilized in some way to gain what Robert Anton Wilson named "bio-survival tickets". We then use those tickets to purchase the things we need to survive. Anything behind that falls into the category of a want not a need. The people who sell tangible material goods have an edge here. Once a "brand" is fully actualized and recognized by people then their energy goes towards supporting the foundation structure of the craft person.

Weapos;ve all got a finite amount of energy to spend at any given time. We employ various tools to represent this energy. I like the concept that folks who are writing or making pottery (examples derived from friends of mine) are putting their energy and time into fashioning something tangible. Their medium of expression then is put out into the marketplace and hopefully will sell. Because someone else finds value in what they have to offer. Another person wants that vision at the core level and then a shared experience is created. If that experience is pleasant a consumer will then develop an affinity with that brand or label. You come to realize that quality equates to a logo.

Perhaps this is why Iapos;m so drawn to the written medium. Everything I wrote up above ties into a personapos;s mission statement. We all have one whether or not itapos;s fully realized. In other words we all have a focus, a place where our energy moves from the intellectual realm and into action. I think this is a vital point of discussion. At the end of the day you want to surround yourself with people who share a similar vision. Otherwise when the personal energy interacts it will slowly deflect your vision into something different. This is where co-dependent relationships form. When both or multiple parties are keeping each other held in a place of distraction rather than growth.

So what are you marketing dear reader? Myself I stick closely to my roots in the sign of Air. I sell a mutable quality of ideas and concepts. All day long I play with imaginary numbers in an ever changing environment of business. Even the prices on the products shift daily. Nothing stays the same. I sell my utilization of a process designed to actualize numbers. Thatapos;s a pretty cool job when I stop to think about it.

And that is what we all should do. Stop and think about what we are doing at our core.
